Surgical Scrub Technician

This position follows a shift of 4x9 hour days, with call rotations and weekends as needed.

Job Description

The Surgical Scrub Technician participates as a vital team member in the planning and implementation of nursing care for each patient. This role requires effective collaboration with medical, nursing, and ancillary services to ensure safe patient care. The Scrub Technician must demonstrate professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information while adhering to established surgical protocols.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and achieve sterilization of surgical instruments, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Select and organize equipment and supplies based on surgical procedures.
• Prepare instrument sets according to preference lists, patient history, and age.
• Create and maintain a sterile field, demonstrating proper aseptic techniques.
• Manage sharps responsibly to prevent injury or contamination.
• Conduct accurate counts of all countable items on the sterile field and initiate corrective measures when discrepancies occur.
• Accurately prepare medications with appropriate labeling.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor to new employees.
• Assess the surgical environment for safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS certification (through AHA or RQI)
• OR Tech certification
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical setting

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
