Registered Nurse - Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum Unit

This position requires a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum Unit will coordinate and implement patient care specific to the age and needs of the patients. This role ensures quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The nurse will demonstrate performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization while treating all staff, physicians, patients, and families with respect.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable One CHRISTUS Competencies.
• Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Reassess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement measurable individualized plans of care within the established timeframes.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
• Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Evaluate the plan of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license required.
• Current BLS certification from AHA required.
• Current ACLS certification from AHA required.
• Current NRP certification required.
• Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients' rights in the delivery of care.
