Radiation Therapist

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines. The role requires operating high voltage machinery safely and accurately while ensuring patient welfare at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist according to established practices and standards.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans effectively.
• Observe patients for reactions and report any adverse reactions to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Facilitate complex problem-solving regarding technical issues.
• Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York (proof of application required).
• ARRT certification is necessary.
• Satisfactory completion of a training program in a Radiation Therapy Technology program in an AMA approved school.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
