Job Description
The Level II Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, is accountable for the provision of competent care based on established standards. This role assumes an expanded responsibility which may include serving as a charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member. Strong clinical practice, service excellence, professional development, and adherence to evidence-based practice are essential components of this position.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in a stepdown/PCU setting.
- Monitor and assess patients with high acuity strokes and neurosurgery needs.
- Utilize telemetry systems for patient monitoring.
- Manage complex medical equipment and treatments including EVDs, lumbar drains, and cardiac drips.
- Conduct Q1 neuro checks and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must have stepdown/PCU experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant nursing experience.
- Current RN License in New York.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Telemetry experience is required.
- ACLS certification is preferred.
- NIHSS certification is a plus.
- Experience with the following procedures is needed: carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, DBS insertion, VP shunts, and managing seizures.
