Emergency Department Registered Nurse - Part Time

Part Time, Day/Night rotations (2x12s) with every other weekend and holiday required.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies the urgent or emergent care priority, collaborates to provide direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress. The role involves skill in using various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate for managing life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Connects with patients and families during triage, identifying initial management and prioritizing care as per Triage Standards.
• Conducts primary assessments of critical needs, documenting any major deviations from norms, and identifying necessary interventions.
• Encourages mutual trust and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepares patients, parents, or families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, making appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.
• Maintains awareness of patient conditions throughout their ER visit, updating communication boards regularly.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI required)
• Two years of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse
• One year of Emergency Department experience as a Registered Nurse
