Job Description

The Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU) cares for critically ill and postoperative patients requiring advanced cardiac care. The RN will be expected to provide comprehensive nursing care and utilize critical thinking skills in managing complex cardiac health issues.

Responsibilities

• Utilize invasive hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
• Administer advanced cardiac life support and manage pacemakers/ICDs.
• Provide care for patients recovering from open heart surgery and those requiring dysrhythmia management.
• Monitor patients on ECMO, IABP, and CRRT.
• Interpret arterial blood gases and manage IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience is required.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory.
• Experience with the EPIC charting system is needed.
• Traveler must pass an EKG exam on the first attempt to avoid cancellation.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required, with exemptions considered.
