Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming a basis for individualized care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals, collaborating with patients/families and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Engage in patient rehabilitation programs, focusing on education based on identified healthcare needs.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
- Communicate significant changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Maintain safety for patients and staff in accordance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit function through direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
- Ensure effective use of time and resources to meet patient needs.
- Participate in the development of clinical training and address supply needs.
- Take on charge responsibilities post-orientation as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift.
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside critical care clinical experience required.
