Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed while supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. Focusing on patient and employee safety is a priority, as it allows the organization to provide superior care for patients while creating a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to create individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in medical records.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritize education of patients and their families.
- Initiate discharge planning on all patients from the day of admission, anticipating discharge needs.
- Communicate effectively about changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel as necessary.
- Promote a positive and efficient unit environment by contributing to team-building activities.
- Monitor supplies and charges while providing care in a cost-effective manner.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation.
- Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift.
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside critical care clinical experience required.
