Surgical Technologist

Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field. Your role will involve providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team and participating in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care. You will function under the direction of a Registered Nurse, playing a crucial role in the safety and efficacy of surgical operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and check all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal, packaging integrity, and expiration dates.
• Ensure a safe operating room environment, confirming that equipment functions properly.
• Monitor the sterile field for potential contamination and initiate corrective action when necessary.
• Work towards competency with Tier 1 surgical cases while demonstrating flexibility and continuous care delivery.
• Communicate effectively with the perioperative team, participating fully in the Time Out Process, Briefings, and Debriefings.
• Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and preparation.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Model professional behavior and maintain currency in new technologies and surgical procedures.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Prepare and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
• Licensure as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
• Working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

This position offers a rotating schedule of 3x12 hour shifts.
