MRI Technician

Schedule

Wednesday – Friday 11am – 9pm and Saturdays 7am – 5pm (No call required)

Job Description

The MRI Technician is responsible for performing MRI procedures to ensure quality images are obtained while maintaining patient safety and comfort. The role involves direct patient interaction and communication, as well as data entry and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Position patients on the examining table and apply the appropriate coils as per protocols specified by the Radiologist.
• Utilize a microphone for effective communication between the patient and the technologist during examinations.
• Input patient history, anatomical areas to be scanned, and scan specifications into the computer system.
• Monitor patients through the control room and closed-circuit TV for safety and comfort.
• Review images on display screens to ensure the quality of scans.
• Photograph images using the camera system.
• Alert staff entering the magnet room about safety protocols regarding metal objects.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1-3 years of experience as an MRI Technician.
• Graduate of an Accredited Radiology Program.
• Licensed as an RT in New Jersey.
• MR Certified.
• BLS Certification.
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
