Certified Medical Assistant
Job Description
The Certified Medical Assistant provides care to patients across various age groups in an ambulatory care clinic setting. This position is crucial for maintaining efficient clinic operations and optimal patient flow, ensuring access to care while maximizing the provider's time. The role includes both administrative duties and basic clinical tasks to support healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Accurately collect and document information in patient charts, ensuring records are complete and organized.
- Maintain current patient medication and immunization records.
- Recognize and act on signs or symptoms requiring prompt intervention.
- Transport patients within the facility as needed.
- Assist with routine exams and minor procedures, providing necessary setup and support.
- Perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) and specimen collection, following established protocols.
- Administer immunizations and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
- Support healthcare providers in delivering patient care and identifying overdue immunizations.
- Cross-cover for peers and assist clinics in maintaining patient flow.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to unit goal setting.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential is required.
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Nursing degree from an accredited institution may substitute for above qualifications.
Schedule
This position requires a commitment to a Monday through Friday schedule, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
