Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) - 13-Week Contract

This position requires a day shift schedule involving 3x12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:30, with every other weekend and holiday coverage.

Job Description

The Step-Down RN will provide care for patients recovering from complex medical procedures. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients with conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), respiratory failure, and cardiac dysrhythmias.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients recovering from heart catheterizations and vascular procedures.
• Perform frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks.
• Administer medications, including emergency medications and blood products.
• Provide care related to respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm).
• Utilize cardiac monitoring and perform dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• Assist with unit procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and post-heart cath care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Step-Down or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Experience with cardiac and emergency care, dysrhythmia management, and intravenous (IV) insertion and maintenance.
• Local candidates preferred; job seekers residing within 50 miles will receive a lower bill rate.
