Job Description
The role requires an independent professional capable of performing a variety of imaging procedures utilizing prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform computed tomography procedures in accordance with established protocols, including contrast administration.
- Adjust protocols based on independent judgment to ensure optimal diagnostic results.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.
- Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and use of power injectors based on departmental and manufacturer protocols.
- Administer various types of contrast media as per physician orders and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.
- Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in interactions with patients and co-workers, ensuring a caring and respectful environment.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with patients to alleviate fears and encourage cooperation regarding imaging procedures.
- Utilize two patient identifiers for proper identification and apply universal protocol during procedures.
- Review patient history and physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols to optimize data acquisition.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic record as required.
- Ensure proper coding, tracking, and archiving of exams within designated responsibilities.
- Adhere to system-wide competencies and behaviors while performing other duties as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be achieved within 18 months of initial registration or hire date.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
- ARRT certification is mandatory.
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
- Compliance with PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73 is required.
