Job Description

The Computed Tomography Technologist independently performs imaging procedures utilizing established scan protocols, requiring independent judgment and ingenuity to apply ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role demands the ability to interact effectively with patients and co-workers, ensuring a high standard of care and patient comfort.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform computed tomography procedures, including contrast administration.
• Adjust protocols and utilize complex imaging equipment for image data acquisition and documentation.
• Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and the use of power injectors as per departmental protocols.
• Administer and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to contrast media administration.
• Facilitate clear communication with patients to explain procedures and alleviate concerns.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and adherence to universal protocols.
• Review patient histories and physician orders to optimize data acquisition.
• Document patient history in electronic records and ensure exams are coded and tracked appropriately.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
• CT registry must be acquired within 18 months from the date the primary registry was obtained.
• Two years of imaging experience is required.
• Required certifications: ARRT, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC), Basic Life Support (BLS), and applicable PA Acts (31, 33, 34, 73).
