Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory interventions and patient transport as medically prescribed and within the scope of professional license with minimal supervision. The role includes evaluating patient needs and recommending appropriate treatment plans. The Therapist will educate patients on the purpose and procedures of treatments and tests, as well as offer necessary discharge education for home care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer oxygen, aerosol treatments, and nebulizer therapies to enhance patient ventilation and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography according to established policies.
• Review patient chest x-rays for further evaluation as necessary.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care and manage the insertion/removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor, record, and report test results.
• Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
• Facilitate the preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory care equipment as needed.

Schedule

This position requires a Day shift with a 3x12.0 hour schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
