Job Description

The Echo Sonographer will perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams.
• Coordinate activities with interrelated hospital departments, including scheduling exams and transporting patients.
• Assist cardiologists while dictating exams by preparing and measuring M-modes.
• Respond to patients' needs during exams and report changes in patient condition to the physician or nurse in charge.
• Maintain cleanliness and supply of examination rooms and order echo supplies as needed.
• Participate in performance improvement activities at departmental, interdepartmental, and hospital-wide levels.
• Maintain quality control of equipment and ensure the quality of examinations performed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year allied health education program that is patient care related; diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technology, or related fields preferred.
• A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible or comparable national accreditation required.
• State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
• BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association.
• Two years of experience actively performing echocardiograms preferred.
