This position requires a commitment to a night shift, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery will demonstrate the ability to perform comprehensive assessments on patients, reassessing as per policy. This role focuses on managing pain and developing plans of care based on the patient's response. The nurse will provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of medication administration according to established standards. The RN will communicate effectively within the interdisciplinary team and ensure safe and dignified patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and pain assessments using appropriate methodologies.
- Develop and revise plans of care based on patient responses and daily evaluations.
- Administer medications correctly according to the five rights of medication administration.
- Formulate and assess teaching plans based on the identified learning needs of patients and families.
- Maintain effective communication with unit directors, co-workers, and physicians.
- Ensure a safe environment that minimizes the risk of healthcare errors.
- Consult with other departments to address interdisciplinary patient needs.
- Document all patient care activities according to current standards.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
- Postpartum and nursery experience preferred.
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications, all through AHA and active at the time of submission.
- Active Ohio or compact nursing license required.
- BSN degree preferred.
