Radiation Therapist

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for operating LINAC equipment to deliver prescribed radiation therapy to patients. This position requires a focus on patient care, including the use of positioning or restraining devices, patient set-ups, and portal adjustments. The therapist will also assist in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures, perform CT clinical simulation procedures, and maintain a close observation of patients during treatment.

Responsibilities

• Operate LINAC equipment to deliver radiation therapy.
• Assist in the fabrication of patient positioning devices.
• Accomplish patient set-ups and portal adjustments.
• Participate in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures.
• Perform CT clinical simulation procedures.
• Maintain close observation of patients in treatment room.
• Work with medical personnel to coordinate simulation schedules.
• Assist in the training of radiation therapy students.
• Capture patient charges accurately.
• Utilize ALARA principles for radiation safety.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 1 year of experience in radiation therapy.
• ARRT certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Travel experience preferred.

Schedule

This is a day shift position, operating on a Monday through Friday schedule with 8-hour shifts. Actual start and end times may vary.
