Open Heart Surgical Technologist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift: 4x10 hours (06:00 - 16:30). Alternating days off with 1-2 call days per week and a 30-minute response time required. Weekend coverage every third or fourth weekend, from Friday 4:30 PM until Monday 6 AM, and holidays as needed.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist will provide support during heart surgeries, including scrubbing and assisting in procedures. Must have experience in cardiovascular operating room settings and familiarity with protocols and instruments used in open-heart procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields during surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies during operations.
• Transport and position patients in the operating room.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
• Care for COVID patients as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiovascular operating room.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA). NCCT not accepted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• EPIC electronic health record experience is heavily preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19; medical/religious exemptions allowed.
• Flu vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions only.
