Operating Room Registered Nurse

Schedule

This position involves a rotating shift schedule including weekends and holidays, based on unit needs. The typical schedule consists of 3 shifts of 12 hours each.

Job Description

The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse will provide care for a diverse range of patients, supporting various surgical specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, urology, cardiac, neuro, vascular, ophthalmic, gynecology, ENT, thoracic, oral-maxillofacial, and trauma in a level 1 trauma center. The OR utilizes two Davinci robots and is part of a comprehensive transplant program that includes liver, kidney, and heart transplants.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate in the Operating Room.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient care.
• Prepare and maintain sterile environments during surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and telemetry during operations.
• Assist in specialty surgery cases, including transplants and orthopedic procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN License in New York State.
• Minimum of two years of operating room experience in a level 1 trauma hospital preferred.
• Ability to scrub and circulate in surgical procedures.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) required.
• ACLS Certification preferred.
• Telemetry experience required.
