Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) Traveler

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour evening shifts, 36 hours per week. One weekend every 3 to 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for providing exceptional patient care while protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities. The RN plays a crucial role in the management of a group of patients, partnering with individuals and families to diagnose and treat human responses through effective nursing practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care as the primary nurse for a designated group of patients.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely and according to hospital policies.
• Contribute to productivity and resource utilization, ensuring effective use of staffing, time, and supplies.
• Adhere to nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
• Engage actively in professional development and complete all required education.
• Incorporate nursing research and evidence-based practices into patient care.
• Support new staff and students in a learning environment.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 3-5 years of experience in an OR setting.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Six (6) months nursing experience is required.
• Experience with trauma surgery preferred but not necessary.
