This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends/holidays. There is no guarantee of hours or shift preference. On-call shifts may be required 0-3 times per month (8-hour night and 24-hour weekends/holidays).

Job Description

The PACU Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing care to patients in the pre-operative phase, as well as in Phase I and Phase II recovery. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and the ability to monitor and assess patients following surgery. Critical care skills are essential to evaluate incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track vital indicators of patient stability and potential complications.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in the post-anesthesia recovery unit (PACU).
• Monitor and assess vital signs and incision sites for indications of stability or complications.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to provide high-quality patient care.
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesiology teams for optimal patient recovery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of experience as a critical care RN (Emergency Room or Intensive Care Unit) may be accepted as a substitute for PACU nursing experience.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• A valid professional RN license within the state of practice.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required for specific positions.
• Other specialty-related certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) preferred.
