This position requires some weekend shifts and follows a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery will provide care for high-risk obstetric patients, including those with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes, and multiple gestations. Responsibilities also include active management of laboring patients, assisting with both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and responding to maternal emergencies. The nurse will be expected to chart using the Epic system and will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to labor and delivery patients, including high-risk cases.
- Assist with the induction and augmentation of labor.
- Perform sterile vaginal exams, assess maternal and fetal health status, and manage complications such as hemorrhage or shock.
- Administer medications and IV therapy as needed, including magnesium sulfate for pre-eclampsia and insulin drips for diabetic patients.
- Educate patients and families on care processes and postpartum recovery.
- Utilize the Epic charting system for documentation.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Experience with various high-risk obstetric conditions and procedures.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active RN license required (Compact license must be in hand at submission).
- Certifications in ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, and NRP are required.
