Schedule/Shift

Evening shift, typically from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and may include some shifts from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, working every other weekend.

Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will primarily work in the Blood Bank, performing essential tasks related to blood banking procedures, including automated and manual crossmatching. Familiarity with the ECHO Lumina system is strongly preferred. The role involves working with various laboratory instrumentation and a Laboratory Information System (LIS) such as Cerner Millennium.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood banking procedures, including ABO/Rh typing and antibody screening.
• Conduct compatibility testing and blood specimen storage.
• Operate laboratory equipment, including the automated ECHO Lumina system.
• Ensure proper labeling and disposal of specimens, adhering to quality assurance standards.
• Report test results accurately and timely.
• Participate in quality control and assurance processes.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related field.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or AAB is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• ASCP or AAB certification required.
