12 nights, 7 PM to 7 AM with some flexibility, 36 hours/week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering patient-centered care in the Medical-Surgical unit, protecting and promoting health, preventing illness, and alleviating suffering through the comprehensive nursing process. This role requires an advocate for patients and families, with a commitment to promoting a caring and healing environment. The RN will coordinate and implement nursing care for a group of patients, serving as the primary nurse as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients.
• Educate patients and their families on health promotion and disease management.
• Safely administer medications while adhering to pharmacological guidelines.
• Utilize resources efficiently, including staffing, supplies, and time management.
• Comply with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Engage in shared governance and support improvement initiatives.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory education.
• Support the learning of new employees and nursing students.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 6 months to 3 years of nursing (RN) experience.
• 2+ years of Med-Surg nursing experience, including wound care and IV skills.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current NYS RN License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific certifications as identified in the Compliance Matrix.
