The shift is three 12-hour days from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a requirement to work every other weekend.

Job Description

The Acute Stroke Unit at Rochester General Hospital is a 39-bed combined unit specializing in the care of acute stroke patients and other neurological disorders. The unit practices an adjustable acuity delivery of care to provide evidence-based care during the primary prevention and acute care phases of a stroke.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care for a ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 patients in a MedSurg setting.
• Utilize EPIC for charting and documentation.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and manage emergency responses, including the interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Cary out IV therapy and phlebotomy with a focus on peripheral line care/management.
• Administer respiratory care, including the use of nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and patient safety protocols.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry.
• Previous charge experience preferred.
• Must have local or travel experience.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active New York State nursing license required.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory.
