Schedule/Shift

Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Floating within the facility may be required. Every other weekend work is expected.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will work in the Inpatient Surgery Unit, caring for a wide range of patients diagnosed with surgical and trauma-related conditions. This combination acuity unit requires proficiency in handling a variety of procedures and patient types, including those recovering from surgeries such as cholecystectomy and hernia repairs, as well as trauma-related cases like motor vehicle accidents and gunshot wounds.
The nurse will maintain patient documentation using EPIC and will manage various types of equipment including wound vacs, chest tubes, and various drains. The nurse is expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, which includes IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients with surgical and medical conditions.
• Administer medications and perform monitoring as required.
• Utilize EPIC for patient charting and documentation.
• Assist in procedures and manage post-operative care.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for patient management.
• Adhere to the hospital's call-off policy.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of registered nursing experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry setting.
• Experience with acute care patients is preferred.
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:6.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state.
• BLS certification is required.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
