Schedule/Shift

12-hour rotating shifts with varied start times; must be available for all listed shifts (1p-1a, 3p-3a, 5p-5a, 7p-7a). Every other weekend required, with one major holiday. Self-scheduling options may be available.

Job Description

The Emergency Department at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. The unit has a total of 44 beds and primarily serves a high volume of patients, averaging 190-200 visits daily. The patient population includes conditions such as STEMI, stroke, syncope, trauma, and falls, predominantly consisting of elderly patients.

The nurse will work with a supportive team, which includes ER Techs, social workers, and case managers. The facility employs Epic as its documentation system, with Pyxis for medication management. Advanced practice providers, including Physician Assistants, are present to assist in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency care to patients in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform assessments, interventions, and evaluations according to established protocols.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize Epic documentation system effectively for patient records.
• Participate in the education and support of patients and their families.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience required.
• At least 2 years of recent experience in an Emergency Department is necessary.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active California RN license.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA only), PALS (AHA only), NIHSS.
• Preferred certifications: TNCC.
