Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) will provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, primarily focusing on cardiovascular, respiratory, and medical surgical care. The nurse will be monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and working closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications and intravenous therapies.
- Assist with the management of cardiac drips, including heparin, bumex, and amiodarone as per protocols.
- Provide patient and family education on health management and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, including physician teams and various support services.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current PA or compact RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
