This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
3x12 hour shifts, Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with weekend and holiday rotations. No call required. Travelers are subject to float between all Cone Health campuses if needed.
Job Description
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 34-bed unit providing cardiac telemetry monitoring for a variety of patient populations. Nurses in this unit will manage patients with conditions including strokes, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and hematological disorders. The unit requires nurses to possess strong skills in cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation. A centralized cardiac monitoring department is available for patient surveillance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and interpret dysrhythmias in patients.
- Administer and manage peripheral and PICC lines.
- Titrate drips including cardiac and vasoactive medications.
- Provide care to patients according to PCU ratios (1:5).
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Cardiac telemetry experience is mandatory.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
