Day Shift, 3x12 hour schedule, from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed and within the scope of professional licensing. Their responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients on treatments, tests, and equipment prior to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment and devices to administer medications and oxygen therapy.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography and conduct routine reviews of chest x-rays.
• Assist in procedures related to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency while documenting results.
• Maintain and operate mechanical ventilation equipment and perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Record all pertinent treatment information and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.

Required Experience

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Experience in intensive respiratory care settings.

Certifications/Licensure

• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Michigan.
