Schedule / Shift

Varied open and close shifts from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM; 4 x 10 hour shifts with no weekend, holiday, on-call, or float requirements.

Job Description

The Radiation Therapy Technologist is responsible for the delivery of ionizing radiation to treat patients according to the Radiation Oncologist's prescription and Simulation instructions. The technologist ensures the safe and effective execution of the prescribed course of radiotherapy, assesses images, and performs diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Responsibilities

• Administer radiation treatments and monitor their delivery.
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation.
• Obtain and evaluate portal images, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
• Perform calculations and prepare rooms and equipment.
• Inform and instruct patients regarding equipment and procedures.
• Transfer and position patients accurately.
• Simulate treatment portals as per Radiation Oncologist instructions.
• Document setup instructions clearly and maintain patient immobilization as needed.
• Construct and mount shielding blocks and lead cut-outs based on treatment requirements.
• Execute quality assurance procedures for treatment units and simulators.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of work areas and equipment.
• Assess and respond to patients' physical conditions and special needs.
• Assist in teaching Radiation Therapy to students during clinical rotations.

Required Experience

• 1-2 years of experience required; 3-5 years preferred.

Certifications / Licensure

• Experience with True Beam, accelerator, and SIMS is required.
