Job Description

The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment.
• Review and obtain patient clinical history, ensuring documentation is scanned into PACS.
• Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients.
• Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed.
• Verify appropriateness of exams and communicate with Radiologists as needed.
• Call physicians to clarify prescriptions according to CT protocols.
• Verify insurance authorized exam scripts and facilitate re-verification.
• Obtain outside studies and schedule them in EPIC.
• Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians.
• Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic value using PACS.
• Prep patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.

Required Experience

• At least 2 years of CT experience required (5 years preferred).
• Experience with GE equipment, Epic EMR, and Fuji PACS is required.
• Ability to work in a busy ED and maintain workflow is essential.
• Must be willing to work in dual modalities (X-ray & CT).
