Job Description

The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation, and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex CT procedures and uses professional judgment when reviewing patient clinical history.
• Prepares and reviews accuracy of the contrast questionnaire.
• Identifies and administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Verifies prescriptions for exams and communicates with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as needed.
• Obtains insurance authorized exam scripts and coordinates with Finance for re-verification.
• Requests and schedules outside studies in EPIC and ensures availability in PACS.
• Provides exam copies to patients and healthcare providers as needed.
• Evaluates radiographs using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
• Preps patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization as necessary.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures and addresses patient questions.
• Responsible for scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, with overtime as necessary.
• Adheres to hospital policies regarding employee conduct and patient care standards.

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in CT is required.
• 2 years of experience preferred.

Certifications / Licensure

• NJ ARRT-CT and CT Certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of EPIC EMR preferred.
