Job Description

The Progressive Care Nurse will provide comprehensive care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a medical/surgical unit who do not require ICU transfer. Responsibilities include delivering physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support, as well as collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Anticipated patient populations include post-operative surgical patients requiring intensive monitoring, pre and post PCI care, and care for various medical conditions such as CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, among others. The nurse is expected to recognize potential deteriorating conditions and provide skilled assessment and interventions when needed. Additionally, the nurse will operate advanced medical equipment and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, and ventilation support.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
• Assume a clinical leadership role and assist in precepting new staff.
• Interact effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team while maintaining professional nursing standards.
• Manage and administer IV medications as needed.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure comprehensive care delivery.

Required Experience

Experience in a Progressive Care Unit, post-heart catheterization, or with post-operative vascular surgery patients is preferred.

Certifications / Licensure

• Current State of Montana RN Licensure
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required or to be obtained within six months of hire
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred but not required
