Job Description

The role involves performing breast imaging procedures, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound. The technician will follow MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging, exhibit comprehensive knowledge of breast anatomy and pathological conditions, and ensure the safe administration of radiation.

Responsibilities

• Review patient requisitions for consistency with clinical diagnoses and demographic details.
• Operate and maintain mammography and stereotactic equipment, ensuring proper usage of contrast agents and sterile techniques.
• Conduct and document quality control of imaging equipment according to MQSA and ACR standards.
• Educate patients throughout the imaging process to ensure understanding and comfort.
• Review and present completed breast imaging examinations to the radiologist, communicating essential patient care data.
• Coordinate and schedule breast imaging appointments to promote continuity of care.
• Assist with departmental workflow management and ensure accurate patient charge completion.
• Monitor and order medical supply inventory efficiently.
• Promote breast health education at organizational events.
• Participate in the orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain CPR certification and 24 CEU credits every two years as per A.R.R.T. guidelines.

Required Experience

1 year of experience preferred, with experience in healthcare preferred.

Certifications / Licensure

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with Mammography (M) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
