Job Description
The Operating Room Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient in the operating room. As a member of the surgical team, the RN works with the Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, OR Techs, and other personnel to provide patient care in the Operating Room according to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN, and regulatory standards, physician orders, and hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely setup and availability of supplies for surgical procedures.
- Maintain communication with families regarding patient care and surgery updates.
- Update physician preference cards as needed.
- Scrub and assist physicians during surgical cases.
- Supervise personnel delivering patient care in the operating room.
Required Experience
At least 2 years of experience, with prior travel experience required. Local candidates will not be accepted.
Certifications / Licensure
- Current TX or multistate RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ALS (Advanced Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
