Mon-Wed 1800-0630, every other Sunday 2200-0630. Hours can be subject to change.

Job Description

The Medical Lab Scientist will provide quality and timely laboratory tests for inpatients and outpatients in a fast-paced 24-hour laboratory operation. The role involves clear communication of test results and delays in patient care, along with assisting nursing and medical staff with technical questions. The incumbent will engage with a diverse patient population, ensuring an understanding of age-related procedural requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests accurately and timely for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
• Communicate effectively with nursing and medical staff regarding test results and any delays.
• Assist clinical lab assistants, physicians, and nurses with technical questions.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to laboratory protocols and age-specific care.
• Adapt to department needs, including floating to different roles when required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification (ASCP) required.
• Two years of experience in a laboratory environment.
• Prior travel experience of at least one 13-week assignment preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates holding a NV license.
• Core lab experience as a generalist is essential; specialization in Microbiology or Blood Bank not ideal.
• Familiarity with the following equipment is a plus:
  • Chemistry: Roche Cobas Pro
  • Hematology: Sysmex XN with Cellavision
  • Coagulation: Stago STAR Max
  • Urinalysis: UN 3000
