Registered Nurse - Neuro Unit

This is a 13-week contract position for a Night Shift on the Neuro Unit. Available shifts are Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide exceptional care to patients within the Neuro Unit. The role requires strong experience in neurosciences, including management of conditions such as strokes, seizures, and post-operative care related to spinal surgeries. The RN will collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and maintain safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and perform treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patient's condition and assess their neurological status using NIHSS.
• Document patient care activities in EPIC and ensure compliance with medical standards.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding care plans and procedures.
• Collaboration with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Supervise the nursing aides and ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN License.
• BLS and NIHSS certifications in hand at time of submission; ACLS preferred.
• Recent experience with EPIC charting system.
• Strong background in neuro nursing, particularly with G-tubes and titrating protocols as guided by physicians.
