Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit

This is a 13-week contract position, requiring a 12-hour night/day rotating shift with weekends scheduled as needed.

Job Description

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to those with intermediate care acuity, while managing diverse medical conditions. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including monitoring and assessment of vital signs and symptoms.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including the titration of drips such as Amiodarone and Nitro.
• Work collaboratively with charge nurses and clinical assistants to ensure seamless patient care.
• Manage patient assignments and care plans, ensuring compliance with unit protocols and standards.
• Participate in orientation and training of new staff, as necessary.
• Float between telemetry and med-surg units as needed, adhering to patient care ratios.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Strong ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
