Schedule requirements: 36 hours, 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care for patients recovering from fresh cardiac surgery in a specialized CVICU setting. The ideal candidate will work within a tight-knit, skilled team, concentrating on delivering high-quality care during the critical post-operative phase.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients in the immediate post-surgical phase with a focus on cardiac recovery.
• Utilize critical care equipment such as balloon pumps and impella devices.
• Document patient care and progress using Meditech Expanse.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1 immediately post-surgery, transitioning to a 1:2 ratio from post-operative day 1 to 3.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1-2 years of experience with fresh cardiac surgery recovery.
• ACLS certification required.
• Training in balloon pump and impella use; hemosphere or acumen trained preferred.
