Respiratory Therapist - 6 Week Contract

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed, all while operating within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The Therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, while explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to ensure patients receive necessary education prior to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer medications and perform procedures using oxygen and aerosol devices, as well as nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal techniques.
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography, and perform chest x-ray reviews.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in procedures related to respiratory care as needed.
• Perform tracheostomy care, arterial punctures, and maintain accurate respiratory therapy records.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency and patient progress.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Assists in facilitating preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

The ideal candidate must possess a valid state license as a Respiratory Therapist and relevant experience in intensive respiratory care settings.
