Med Surg RN - Acute Surgical Unit

This position offers a 12-hour night shift, specifically from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with variable scheduling. Candidates must be willing to work 2 major holidays and 1 minor holiday throughout the holiday season.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated Med Surg RN within a fast-paced acute surgical unit. The team discharges between 8 to 15 patients daily and admits a similar number, with patients coming from the Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), or direct admits. The unit has an Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) nurse to facilitate patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring smooth transitions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses in accordance with established protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg nursing is required.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record is a plus.
