Shift: 5x8.0, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call/callback as needed. 40 hours per week.

Job Description

The Department of Sterile and Materials Processing provides state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilization services. This includes decontamination, High Level Disinfection (HLD), assembly, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments and trays. The department supports 35 O.R. Suites, AFC units, and clinics, utilizing cutting-edge decontamination, HLD, and sterilization equipment. Sterilization processes are monitored using Getinge's T-DOC barcode system.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments, trays, and case carts according to departmental protocols.
• Operate steam sterilizers, ensuring proper time, pressure, and temperature while maintaining documentation of sterilization processes.
• Check and adjust medical equipment to ensure operational specifications.
• Decontaminate surgical instruments following established procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
• Receive and store supplies, maintaining accurate inventory records and fulfilling supplies for patient care areas.
• Perform quality assurance checks on sterile supplies and maintain detailed documentation regarding sterilization outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
• Experience in a large hospital (500 beds or more)
• Travel experience of at least 6 months
• Two professional references from previous assignments
