Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Assignment Duration

This is a per diem position for 26 weeks.

Schedule

Day shift, 12-hour shifts from 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM. Must be able to work weekends.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for delivering safe patient care by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care and communicates effectively with physicians regarding patient conditions, diagnostic studies, and changes in clinical status. This role requires quick and accurate responses to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses while maintaining patient privacy and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Conduct patient assessments and implement care plans.
• Guide and oversee patient and family education.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate updates to the healthcare team.
• Maintain compliance with EMTALA regulations and reporting obligations.
• Ensure the implementation of Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or Red Cross).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, with ER experience preferred.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate.
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred.
• Experience with Meditech EMR system.
