This position operates on a 4-day, 10-hour shift starting at 06:30 and ending at 16:30.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist will perform a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. This role includes maintaining aseptic techniques, preparing patients' skin for surgery, and providing comfort and support to patients. Responsibilities also include transporting patients to and from the Operating Room suite and preparing the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of direct patient care in the Operating Room.
• Scrub for various specialty areas including transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, and robotics.
• Establish and maintain the sterile field and assist the physician as directed.
• Ensure preference cards are kept up to date and complete.
• Maintain a safe environment by implementing aseptic practices.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies and instruments.
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for safety in patient care.
• Monitor and control the surgical environment effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the professional nurse.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• BLS certification via AHA is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist certification or LVN/LPN License required within 180 days of graduation.
• 2 or more years of experience preferred.
