Job Description

The Surgical Technologist / LVN/LPN performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Responsibilities include preparing patients' skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards, maintaining aseptic techniques, and transporting patients to and from the Operating Room suite.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and sutures to the physician.
• Ensure that preference cards are kept up to date and complete.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintain safety by implementing technical and aseptic practices in all patient care situations.
• Monitor and control the surgical environment while ensuring proper traffic control and adherence to sanitation policies.
• Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique needs of each patient served.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• 2 or more years of experience is preferred.
• BLS certification via the AHA is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN License is required.
