Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30). Must work every other weekend and holidays as needed.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-risk obstetrics and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery, continuing care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and provide necessary interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including high-risk medications such as magnesium sulfate.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and implement appropriate interventions for abnormal patterns.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Conduct newborn assessments and administer necessary injections (e.g., Vitamin K).

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Active Compact RN license required.
• Certifications: BLS, NRP required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate preferred.
• Experience with electronic fetal monitoring and the Epic charting system is required.
• High-risk obstetrics experience is essential.
