Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Schedule

This position requires the ability to work weekends on a night shift, specifically from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with 12-hour shifts. This is a per diem position for a duration of 26 weeks.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for delivering safe patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will provide direct patient care, maintain professional nursing standards, and ensure effective communication with physicians regarding patient conditions, diagnostic studies, and treatment responses. The RN may need to float to other units as necessary and must adhere to EMTALA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor patient conditions in the Emergency Department.
• Communicate effectively with physicians about changes in patients' clinical conditions.
• Implement the nursing process to provide direct patient care.
• Guide patient/family education and coordinate activities of other nursing personnel.
• Maintain professional nursing care standards and ensure patient safety.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or Red Cross).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in the Emergency Room.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate.
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred.
• Experience with Meditech EMR is a plus.
