Registered Nurse - Surgical Step Down Unit

Schedule

This position offers a shift from 07:00 PM to 07:30 AM, requiring work every other weekend, including Thanksgiving and one additional winter holiday.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Surgical Step Down Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. Nurses in this position will care for post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring and interventions. A background in ICU nursing is beneficial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients recovering from surgery.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions including Heparin, Insulin, Nitro, Amiodarone, and Cardizem.
• Care for complex medical devices such as chest tubes, arterial lines, PICC lines, and central lines.
• Manage ostomies, trachs, NG tubes, wound vacs, and various other drains.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in acute care nursing, preferably in a surgical or ICU unit.
• Familiarity with the care and management of complex medical devices.
